So 52 ended last week, wierd how things work out.
Everyone knows that 52 ended on May 2nd, 5/2 for that matter.

Yesterday I read that Lost will end in 2009.
In it's 5th season, likely ending with a two-parter.
There are now 52 episodes left.

Simone on Birds of Prey, a conspiracy?

I think so many people are going to post about the obvious, I'll think I'll go a little conspiracy theory-ish.

Gail Simone was announced as the ongoing writer for Wonder Woman today.
She takes over on issue #13.
Today is Friday the 13th, of April.
April is the fourth month of the year.
There will be four writers on the WW relaunch before Simone.
This is 2007.
Two issues before Simone will be part of Amazons Attack.
The seventh issue of WW came out this week.

Things I picked up on today in comics

A few things grabbed my interest today as I read comics that were pulled today. No real structure today, just typing as I think of things per issue.

First of all, in JSA 85, I notice that Alan doesn't have anything wrong with his eye. I like the eyepatch and wish he had it still, or at least had it hanging near bedside. I also like Powergirl landing on Gent Ghost and knocking him low on the ground making him bamph out. Ghost's story is still mediocre, and still not explaining how he is what he is now. The dead realm was interesting and fun, but I am really curious and confused as to why Batman was there. Good moments with Jade.

Action Comics 838 - Really curious about what is going on. My first assumption is that the thing stuck in the earth could be something that allowed Krypton to know of Earth, like a scout probe or something. Supe's is slowly getting his powers back, and I think they are doing the slow recovery well. What really made me chuckle is that, if you look closely, Clark is reading Jennifer Government at the ballgame. I'm not sure what to think about that, but I think it is clever.

Detective Comics 819 - No! They killed Orca! I guess that was bound to happen, but that was a bit icky of a discovery (thanks croc). I liked that they developed her a bit more, and that she was one of the few that had a good one year after IC. Well, who am I kidding - I barely know the character aside from how absurd she was in concept. Still, good ending and still much to twist around in the final chapters of the story. Question though, is that former Comm. Akins turned villain?

Teen Titans 35 - Not a whole lot of plot progression, but a periodically fun issue. Robin is still playing mad scientist inbetween getting hit on by a nude Ravager, to which I grinned at both. Everything is screwed up for the Titans. Mystery surrounding human cloning stuff, and Tim's playing clueless. Interesting.

As for Infinite Crisis 7, no spoilers but it has one hell of a conclusion.

Batman Begins and Possible Telegraphed Sequel Ideas

Anyone keeping up with the sequel talk for Batman Begins knows any of the many rumors of who will appear in the next film. If not, the two main candidates are Harvey Dent and the Joker. Knowing how well they did Batman Begins, I feel very safe with anything the decide to do. I mean, come on, Batman Begins earned over 250mil at box office and was nominated for an Oscar - you can't say they were on the wrong path.

Anyway, as of right now the only official word on the sequel is that a number of the main characters are locked in thanks to contracts (primarily Christian Bale and Michael Caine). I just figured out a very important suggection as to where they are going plot wise, and possibly the origin to the rumors of Dent and Joker.

The Delux Edition set of Batman Begins that is available has a chopped together collection of various comic stories showcasing the early years of Bruce Wayne and Batman, very much in line with the movie. It is small, but it is a nice companion piece. The three main stories are each origin stories.

One is the story that would later become twisted into the origin story for the Joker. It isn't quite the revised tale of the Red Hood as told in the Killing Joke, but it is the (Pre-Crisis) story of the chemical plant heist that went wrong for that poor ganster that fell over a rail into an acid vat. This story had no bearing on Batman Begins in any form, other than simply having Batman in it.

The next story is the first chapter of The Long Halloween, which has relevence on Batman Begins. It introduces Carmine Falcone and his mob network, as well appearances of Batman and Catwoman. As much as I would like Selina Kyle to make a cameo inthe film, the real item to note is that The Long Halloween is basically the grand origin of Two-Face.

Could this be WB giving a subtle nudge to the public as to where the franchise is headed plotwise into the next movie? Joker is obviously the fan favorite, but the interconnected plot of Falcone and Harvy Dent is just two easy a plot for the sequel. In my mind they are just telegraphing where they are going with the mini graphic novel they included.

If they do in fact have Joker in a film and continue the novella tie in they had with Begins, what would they include? The Killing Joke is a bit too mature for a wide audience (think of those poor kids!) so I suppose they will do something like the first story with the Joker in it (Batman #1 I think). If they do Harvey Dent we'll just have to wait and see, but my guess is the chapter of The Long Halloween which Dent gets splashed in the face with the acid.
